“It’s not where you start – it’s where you finish. Coaching and Self-Leadership Under Pressure in Elite Sports”
On September 19th 2025 the Tyrolean Day of Sport Psychology will be hosted in Innsbruck (Austria). Details can be found in https://praxistage.com/en/
The focus will be on current perspectives and methods of self- and external coaching – especially during times of high pressure, uncertainty, or emotional intensity. In such moments, sport psychologists and coaches are particularly challenged: the goal is to guide athletes – and oneself – with professionalism, to provide orientation, and to strengthen psychological stability.
Special Highlight: Keynote by Gordon Herbert
The keynote will be delivered by Gordon Herbert, trained sport psychologist, Germany’s Coach of the Year 2023, and former head coach of the German national basketball team. Under his leadership, the team won European bronze in 2022 and achieved a historic World Championship title in 2023 in Manila – the biggest success in the history of the German Basketball Federation. Born in Canada, Herbert brings decades of experience as a player and coach and offers deep insights into leadership, team development, and self-regulation under high-performance pressure.
Additional Speakers & Workshops
We are also pleased to welcome a number of outstanding experts in the field:
Lars Gustavson, Martyna Trajdos, Klaus Schwarz, Christoph Moosburger, and Daniel Rähse
– all offering inspiring presentations and workshops on topics such as resilience, mindset, emotional regulation, and leadership in elite sports.
Supervision Evening – Thursday, September 18, 2025 | 6:00–8:00 PM
As every year, a collegial supervision session will take place the evening before the conference.
Afterwards, we invite all participants to an informal social evening in Innsbruck’s historic old town.
As always: “First come, first served” – exclusively for registered participants of the Tyrolean Day of Sport Psychology. Participation is free of charge.
Peter Haberl – Intensive Workshop (Sept. 15–18, 2025)
Also in 2025, Peter Haberl will offer a four-day workshop in the lead-up to the event:
“What is it that all Olympic Athletes Most Desire from Sport Psychology?
Mindfulness, ACT & Social Meditation in High-Performance Settings”
Start: Monday, September 15, 2025 (9:00 AM)
End: Thursday, September 18, 2025 (5:00 PM)
Participation in the Tyrolean Day is included for all workshop attendees.
Even with only basic English skills, participation is possible: Peter speaks fluent German, understands all questions in German, and is happy to answer in German if needed – this has worked very well in recent years.
Workshop participants will be given priority registration for the Tyrolean Day.
