FEPSAC European Mentoring Network for Young Researchers in Sport Psychology

The FEPSAC is establishing a European Mentoring Network (EMN) for young researchers in sport psychology. The vision of the EMN is two-fold: First, it will promote excellence in sport psychological research across the European countries by providing young researcher with the opportunity to team up with a leading sport psychologist in the field. Second, it will bring the FEPSAC community of young researcher closer together by a regular practice of academic interactions.

The core feature of the EMN are bi-national tandems made up of a young researcher of one country and a senior researcher of another country. These binational tandems will work together for a fixed term of two years based on an individualized mentoring contract, which will be drafted with a focus on the personal goals of the mentee and the specific practices of interaction between the mentor and the mentee, as well as any other form of support during the mentoring term. Eligible for a mentorship are young researchers in sport psychology, who are currently working either on their PhD research thesis or on a Postdoc position within 6 years after completing their PhD (+2 years for each child) and are members of their respective national sport psychology associations. The EMN will provide EMN colloquium that is a kick-off meeting and a farewell meeting during the FEPSAC congress. During the two-year term, the mentees can also participate in the EMN lecture series, where they can learn from expert talks online. In the end of the EMN program, all mentees and mentors receive a FEPSAC certificate for their participation.

The EMN will be managed by Franziska Lautenbach with support from Yago Ramis (Vice President Research and Communication) and Anastasiya Khomutova. EMN activities include the organization of the application and selection process of the mentees, the recruitment of potential mentors, the supervision of binational tan-dems, and the administration of the kick-off and farewell meetings.

The first round of applications for the inaugural term of the EMN for Young Re-searchers in Sport Psychology will be open until October 31 2025. For the inaugural term, a maximum of ten mentees are accepted into the program. The first EMN will be launched with a kick-off celebration at the 18th FEPSAC congress in Timișoara, Romania, in July 2026.
