Position in Muenster

The Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (Faculty of Psychology/Sport and Exercise Sciences) at the University of Münster, Germany, invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of a Lecturer (salary level 13 TV-L, 50%)

The position is to be filled as of 1 March 2020. The position is fully financed by funds from the Higher Education Pact III [not II] of the government of North Rhine-Westphalia. The lectureship is offered for 24 months as part-time position. Currently, the regular weekly working hours for full (100%) employment are 39 hours and 50 minutes. According to the Law on Part-Time and Restricted Employment, § 14 Abs. 2 TzBfG (Teilzeit- und Befristungsgesetz), the position can only be offered to applicants who have never previously held a restricted or unrestricted position at the University of Münster.

Job description

Successful candidates will be given teaching responsibilities in the BSc programme “Human Movement in Sports and Exercise” and the MSc programme “Sports, Exercise and Human Performance” in the field of sport and exercise psychology and research methods. Lectures and seminars will be exclusively conducted in English. Job obligations include teaching three to four classes per week (eight hours per week), conducting exams and, in relation to these teaching tasks, additional administrative tasks (e.g., supervision of students’ research projects and internships).

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent degree in sports or exercise sciences or in a related subject (for example, psychology), completed with an excellent or very good grade. Applicants are expected to command excellent knowledge and skills in research methods, in particular statistics and experimental design, and in sport and exercise psychological research on expertise (for example, related to perception and attention or social influences on performance and decisions), motor learning, health, and/or motivation and emotion in sport and exercise psychology. Additionally welcomed is experience in the applied fields of sport and exercise psychology (e.g., top performance sports, health-related interventions). Applicants are required to have a very good command of English, both written and spoken. Interest in further academic qualification is appreciated.
