European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC)
PRE-CONGRESS WORKSHOP
Hosted by the Forum of Applied Sport Psychologists in Topsport
(FAST)

Tuesday 12th July 2011, Madeira

Introduction
The Forum of Applied Sport psychologists in Topsport (FAST) brings together professionals from around Europe who provide applied sport psychology support services to athlete, teams, coaches, and other support personnel (e.g., team managers) at the youth, elite and Olympic levels. Since its first meeting in Athens, prior to the 2004 Olympic Games, FAST has organized workshops and conferences for applied sport psychologists as well as elite athletes and coaches around Europe as well as in Asia.
In Madeira, the FAST group will be hosting a pre-congress educational workshop for sport psychology practitioners and those interested in the delivery of psychological support to athletes, coaches, parents and organisations. Therefore, it is an excellent opportunity for delegates to meet high performance practitioners with extensive experience in the field.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday 12th July 2011. It will focus on the development of your consulting skills, techniques and contextual knowledge related to building and maintaining confidence in athletes and teams. The day will combine interactive sessions focused on skill practice in one-to-one consulting and visualisation techniques; presentations related to confidence building strategies for particular sports/situations; and ‘case study’ discussions related to working with ‘challenging’ teams and themes that draw out implications for your professional practice. Please refer to the preliminary program – overleaf.
Registration Dates, Process and Fees
This 2011 FAST Pre-Congress Workshop is open not only to the sport psychology community, but also to the world of sports (e.g., athletes, coaches, team managers). The total number of participants however will be restricted to a maximum number in order facilitate appropriate interactions. Therefore, early registration is encouraged.
